HOPE

No matter the gloomy picture that life might paint don’t be discouraged. The worst thing that will happen to a man is to lose hope in times of difficulties. If there is anything to lose, not hope. Hope is what will keep you going amidst your life’s challenges. Whenever there is a will, there surely will be a way.

Don’t write yourself off when God has not written you off. There is always light at the end of every tunnel. When Jacob looked at Joseph, he saw a great son, when the brothers looked at him, they saw a mere servant. When the Ishmaelites looked at him they saw a slave. Potiphar looked at him and saw a potential friend. The prisoners looked at him and saw a fellow prisoner. How wrong were all of them because when God looked at Joseph, he saw a Prime Minister of Egypt in waiting. Don’t be discouraged dear by what people see in you. Be encouraged daily by what God sees in you. Remember, never underestimate the person next to you because you never know the deposits of the Lord in him.

Remember David got the anointing of becoming a King while he was still a simple child shepherding sheep. Esther herself was a simple orphaned girl yet she was a queen in waiting. At your God appointed season, your dream will and must manifest. Hold on and hold out… God is at work.

DO NOT REST ON YOUR OARS

cover image of church sermon _ background of chancel and altar_ parable of wheat and tares _ do not rest on your oars
Lessons from the Parable of the Tares and Wheat

Main Text: Matthew 13:24-30

Key Scripture Verse:

But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds [resembling wheat] among the wheat, and went away - MT. 13: 25 (AMP)

What does it mean to ‘rest on your oars’?

-        to be satisfied with your achievements and not to make an effort to do anything else:

-        To feel comfortable because you have been successful in the past:

-        Satisfied and complacent.

-        self-fulfilled within self-satisfaction

-        Satiety (as in satiated); triumphalism (pride)

                                                                                                         (Reference: Cambridge dictionary)

What questions could you have been asking in your pathetic situation?

Has God forgotten me?  God gave me this child/job/wife, why am I having troubles?

Whatsoever your questions are, you are not alone. The servants would have wondered how those tares could have come to be; in a vineyard owned by God.

 “Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?(Matthew 13:27).

        The world is full of ills because the devil is an enemy of good and this world is his playground But through it all, God is not caught unaware

He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. (Matthew 13:28-29)

Why would God tell them not to pluck the ills out yet?

        God has a master plan

It’s not what happens around us that matters but how we respond to what happens in us wherewithal whatsoever is happening around us.

        While growing next to wheat, tares (darnels) cannot be distinguished from real wheat. It is not until near the time of harvest that you can discern which of the two the real item is.

        Issues of life that are wheat can appear as tares; while tares can appear as wheat

Life challenges could arise to fire us and test our true nature

        Every ill has an expiry date (Rev. 12:9 tells us the devil, who deceives the world, will be cast out at the end of days)

        The Lord knows who are His (2 Timothy 2:19 - Nevertheless, the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity).

        The Lord expects us to stay on track and not get corrupted until the time is fulfilled.

What is expected while waiting?

Let both grow together until the harvest…” (Matthew 13:30a)

While waiting, there’s so much room for growth. It is in the process of growth that we become all God intends for us. There will be pruning, polishing and molding in the process.

For instance, you don’t have to wait till there are challenges before you get to pray. Don’t settle for being a Sunday-to-Sunday Christian. Grow spiritually, socially, financially, career-wise, and in all areas. Increase in knowledge!

If flowers don’t grow, they won’t become as beautiful as they are. Therefore, we cannot afford to settle.  There are many things at stake coming ahead of us… So much God can do with our lives.

Be not like the reapers who went to sleep… (Matthew 13:25) Let’s not be contented with what we have achieved … Prepare and be ready every moment as if the Lord of the harvest is at the door.

Shall we pray?

May the Lord endow us with the grace and enablement not to settle for less; for there is room for us to grow; such growth we claim with the capacity for us to contain.

Lord, we want more of you, we want more of your encounters. Enlarge our capacity; enlarge our coast such that we would be prepared and positioned to receive all you have in store for us.

All these we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Call to ACTION

What would you do differently this week?

That beautiful name Jesus - Christian Hymn Lyrics

cover design for christian hymn lyrics on TIMSE media

Editor's Note:

Have you marveled how precious your name is to you?

Now, among the names that have been; there is One that is so dear to my heart

It is the only name given that has power in heaven and on earth; to which all knees shall bow

It is a saving name; from sin and ills of the world

That beautiful and matchless name is JESUS

That Beautiful Name...

(The lyrics)

I know of a Name; a beautiful Name

That angels brought down to earth

They whispered it low one night long ago

To a maiden of lowly birth

Refrain:

That beautiful Name; that beautiful Name

From sin has power to free us!

That beautiful Name; that wonderful Name

That matchless Name is Jesus.

The One of that name; my Savior became

My Saviour of Calvary;

My sins nailed him there; my burdens He bare

He suffered all these for me

Refrain:

That beautiful name; That beautiful name

From sin has power to free us

That beautiful name; that wonderful name

That matchless name is Jesus

Differences between a free blogsite and self-owned website

A free blog is a blog that you can create for free using a blogging platform like Blogger.com, WordPress.com, or Tumblr.com.

Here are some cons and limitations for free websites;

Limited monetization, as the main sites often extend third party ads on free sites but with significantly lower revenue compared to self-hosted websites.

Limited content space: especially for high data density contents such as images and videos. Self-hosted websites come with bandwidths and file storage (with size range dependent on the kind of plan you purchased)

Limited customization: depending on the purpose and scope of your websites, you might wish to install certain themes or plugins that would enable certain functionalities such as ecommerce, social media sharing, etc. These can be restricted on free websites; but you have the freedom on your own websites to use and customize free/purchased themes.

Limited traffic: Search-engine optimization is often not intense for free sites when compared to self-own websites. Self-hosted websites further prove a sense of credibility and originality.

Summarily, you’ll have little control over your free blog. And if you later want to upgrade to a full-fledged site, you’ll need to pay more than you would if you had hosted the blog yourself.

If you host the blog yourself, you’ll have no limitations to what you post, how you post and the traffic reach. Your blog will look more professional and can be improved as desired. Additionally, there is the self-fulfillment that you actually own your website.

Here are the few cons for self-owned websites:

Self-hosted websites take a longer set-up process and could require intensive web design and web development; compared to free websites that are easier to set-up

They can be capital-intensive; typically costing from $70/year (30000 Naira equivalent); depending on the plan you register for.

Conclusively,

If you just want to have a website/blog for test-run or you’re not planning to develop it for long-term goals, then a free blog might make sense. However, if you’re serious about your online presence, the self-hosted option is the way to go.

See Six Reasons why God is an Entrepreneur

MINISTRATION AT THE 2021 BROTHER’S WEEKEND
OF C.A.C. PRAISE CHAPEL
ILARA STREET, OFF OBALUFON, ILE-IFE

GENERAL THEME:

“MAN BY GOD" – Gen. 1:26-30; Heb.1:1-9

AIM: The revelation, enthronement and position of the man, made and named by God in fulfillment of heaven's agenda for the earth

SEMINAR TOPIC:

AWAKE! SHAKE THYSELF FROM THE DUST
“HELPED TO HELP”

[introduction]

I’m Alex, and by divine providence the founder and CEO of AMG LOGRedeem; an emerging firm leading expatriates in the production of smart furniture and interior designs. We started here in Ife, yet our work presence has taken us across the country.

I’ve engaged in so many projects and products right from my undergraduate days. My work has taught me so many insights into what it is like; when God felt when He created the world and remarked  “it was good”

God is an entrepreneur; [how many of you agree with me?}

Enterpreneurs are problem solvers;

Enterpreneurs are visionary;

Enterpreneurs are skillful;

Enterpreneurs are creative;

Enterpreneurs are resourceful; and

Enterpreneurs are multipliers.

God created us in a purposeful universe for a purposeful mission. This is exemplified in our theme text and I love it’s translation in the Amplified Version.

Gen.1:28 - Amplified Bible

28 And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.

From this text, It’s evident that God created us for a specific mission; and that is why He didn’t create man before creating fishes, seas and firmament. All that man will need – sun, water, food, - God created first before man so he can fulfill his missions.

All that God has given unto us – skills, talents, finances – is so that we can use it to fulfill His missions and His purposes here on earth.

[share some personal experiences of how our work at LOGRedeem had helped people achieve a better standard in their work/ home spaces….]

Conclusively, have you ever wondered why God didn’t create skyscrapers, and limousines during the early days of Creation? It is because He has deposited in you and I the capacity to innovate and create those things.

So, I want to charge you, brothers, to dig out those gifts God has deposited in you for the benefit of mankind. Don’t be afraid if your dreams look too big. Dream big and aim high but don’t be timid to start small.

God bless you all.

Book Review: Pressing towards the Goal by Sundar Sangma

"Pressing towards the Goal" - Authored by Sundar Singh Sangma,

The Director of Ministry at Haggai Institute, India

The book simplifies the art of Goal Setting and Planning. Reading through, I realized that most of what we tag ‘goals’ are mere wishes. I had a redirection towards goal setting both for short-run and long-run goals. The book is a good-read for everyone who wants to get it right in becoming effective and not just being busy achieving little.

Goal typesetting on paper with human hands
The author carefully addressed the misconceptions about goal, the challenges we often face that prevent us from setting or achieving our goals and the key processes to follow in setting realistic, yet challenging, Goals.

You will find in the book the principal characteristics of a good goal to be G: God-Glorifying, O: Objective, A: Ambitious and L: Life Enhancing. The fundamental requirement for every goal to be SMART - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-Bound -was also outlined and exemplified. The Author used very applicable examples to explain what could be regarded as goals and what’s not. Role Models in Goal Setting were also not left out; including our Lord Jesus who had His Goal fixed right from start and finished it.

Conclusively, a more reason why everyone should take Goal Setting serious is a research figure the Author presented. It was found out that only 3% of people were found to be Highly Successful and those were those who had specific written goals and were working towards them; another 10% were Just Successful; another 60% Less Successful and others considered Failures and they were those who never considered what they wanted out of life. So, which category you and I would belong to depends on our actions today. Start Pressing towards the Goal!

 Notable Quotes on Goal Setting

“Begin with the end in mind” – Stephen Covey

“Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one’s thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world” – Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

“All man dreams; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, that they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible” – T.W. Lawrence

“It’s incredibly easy to get caught up in an activity trap, in the busy-ness of life, to work harder and harder at climbing the ladder of success. Only to discover it’s leaning against the wrong wall. It is possible to be busy – very busy without being effective.” – Stephen Covey

“Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God” – William Covey

“You see things as they are; and ask, “Why?” But I dream things that never were; and ask, why not?” – George Bernard Shaw

Conversation between Alice and the Cheshire cat in Lewis Carroll’s Alice Adventures in Wonderland

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’ asked alice –

‘that depends a good deal on where you want to get to’, said the cat.

‘I don’t much care where,’  said Alice, ‘ so long as I get somewhere.’

‘Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said the cat

So, it's necessary you have a direction and press on towards the goals.

Hope you are blessed by this article. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
